Summer is Drawing to a Close

Well, it's hard to believe, but Summer is drawing to a close. We have thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing Summer. We have spent many beautiful, sunny days just hanging out in the pool and spending time together as a family.

This summer, Mariya celebrated 1 year in our family in May. Blake turned 8 years old in June, and Audriana turned 3 in August! Where does the time go?!

Over the summer, we visited Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and explored the Amish country going on a buggy ride and touring an Amish dairy farm.

I have always been intrigued with the Amish. I must say there is something appealing about a simpler life with a strong focus on God and family and without all the distractions of materialistic things and modern technology.

In June, we traveled to NY for my "little" brother's wedding!
CONGRATULATIONS to Brandon & Danielle Burghardt!
May God bless your unification! (Mark 10:8-9)

While in NY, we got to spend time with my adorable, little nephew Daig who turns 1 this month! My kids had fun with him and with all my extended family.

We enjoyed the simple things like playing hide-n-seek in the hayfields, climbing the waterfalls near my grandparents, splashing in mud puddles, fishing in a boat at my dad's house, playing with the horses at my grandparents' farm, climbing trees, catching fire flies, and camping out. The kids didn't want to leave.

The trip home from NY was a little rough with us getting stuck in Maryland due to car problems, but thankfully we survived that adventure (6 kids, a dog, and I staying in a hotel with no car..not exactly ideal circumstances).

Now, the question people always want to know, "How everyone is adjusting?" Well, everyone is doing very well. In less than 1 year, we have added 3 older children, none of which were previously related (or even spoke the same language) to a family that already had 3 children.

Every child has had their own grieving and adjustments to overcome; there have been some minor growing pains as to be expected, but God is good; He has power over all things, and nothing is beyond His ability. He has blessed us all and His hand has been with us through this entire journey.

The kids have bonded so well together and are adjusting wonderfully which is truly a testimony of God's marvelous grace.

Each child has such a unique personality, but God has taken those individual threads and intertwined them with one another creating a magnificent, (entertaining), and exquisitely unique fabric that is our family.
