The Effects of Sponsorship

"To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world."-Heather Cortez

Our family had sponsored a young girl through one of Children's Hope Chest's care points (which is the beginning of how we came to work with CHC at Tullo). The little girl we sponsor is Birke, and she is 12 years old. She is currently at Trees of Glory care point.

We have been writing her monthly since we sponsored her back in July, and we have really enjoyed getting to share our love of the Lord with her and let her know that we pray for her daily. This past November we were able to send her a package with one of the CHC mission trips! I wanted to share with you her "before" and "after" sponsorship photos so you can witness the difference that sponsorship makes.

For about $1 a day, we are able to provide Birke with the food she needs to survive, but also to provide her with an education to help end the cycle of poverty. In addition, through sponsorship, we are also able to provide an opportunity for our children to be a part of a global mission.

What a wonderful way to exemplify caring for others as God instructs us; through this outreach program, we are able to teach our children to be aware of the issues that effect people throughout the world. But, not only are we raising our children's awareness, they are actually helping to make a difference.

Next, I want to introduce you to Desta Dalecha. This is the little boy our family sponsors through S4H & CHC at Tullo in Awassa, Ethiopia!

Through Starved 4 Hope & Children's Hope Chest we are able to make a difference in the life of a child. We are able to bring the love of Christ to him. My children are able to write him letters to let him know that he is loved and to share the Gospel with him.

We look forward to being able to send him packages with the next S4H mission trip this summer, and see the smile on his face that he will have knowning that we love him. Our children have already expressed a desire to visit him in Ethiopia on one of S4H mission trips!

I recently read "One Million Arrows: Raising Your Children to Change the World" by Julie Ferwerda. The book discusses the importance of our children in furthering the kingdom of God. It suggests ways we can provide our children with awareness, instill compassion, and encourage our children to make a difference in the world for God's glory. The book also gives multiple real-life examples of extrodinary works done by real people (some of which are children). (Plus, all proceeds from sales of the book go to benefit international orphan ministries)

"Children born to a young man are like sharp arrows in a warrior's hands. How happy is the man whose quiver is full of them!" (Psalm 127:4-5)

My hope is that the children that we are sponsoring will also become arrows for the Lord. Armed with His word, they will be able to take it to their families, their communities, and ultimately the ends of the earth! So that all people will be reached with the news of salvation.

Please email me with details if you too would like to join us in this ministry:
